The Momentum Difference

Our consults & sessions will not only help you relieve pain quickly, but we will help you with the small details that can make a big positive change for you in the long run. You can use your consults for solely pain relief, as a routine body maintenance check-in, or to get a full body assessment that will help you identify the root cause to a niggling discomfort with the solution plan to fix it. Whatever the reason, we can help you get back to what you love to do.

How the experience starts

  • They can happen suddenly or build up over time with recurring episodes, but more often than not, your body has been sending you signals that something isn’t quite feeling right. We will teach you about these for future self-care support.

  • A thorough medical, lifestyle and physical assessment to help create a prognosis and accelerated support plan for you to optimise your way back to your target goals. These consults can have 3 different focuses:

    1. Pain relief only (“something doesn’t feel right/good”) - a very common reason for visiting us.

    2. Second opinion (“I’ve been seeing/have seen others and i’m just not improving”) - frequently our active approach is what you needed all along.

    3. Elevate & Performance plan (“It’s not that bad, but I’m tired of dealing with the same issues every time”) - A more frequent reason we see new clients is to engage in our proactive care model through our Momentum Method.

    This session is primarily a consultation for assessment & planning as there is more ground to uncover than you may first think, however don’t worry, we do make time to address a physical pain compliant if that’s the primary reason for your visit to us.

    We also offer a complimentary 15-minute consult with our Health Coach, offering you some helpful tips on optimising your body’s recovery environment, and to introduce you to our 5 pillars of health.   • Your experience will be individualised to you as it relies on the goal setting plans made with us in your Discovery Consult. Your care plan may initially involved more intensive ‘hands on’ treatment that includes massage, dry needling/acupuncture, and other pain relief methods. It will initially involve rebalancing, repairing, and stabilising your body’s stress reaction (physical and mental). The speed of your progress through your recovery plan depends on you hitting your milestone goals.

    This is a dominant part of our Relieve & Restore Phase 1.

  • This part requires more time and commitment on your part, but we really recommend you do as the results are worth it. It involves an introduction into our 5 pillars of health & performance, as well as a proactive recovery programme that includes active training methods.

    The Elevate Phase has become a much more frequent entry point for many of our clients as our community of people interested in proactive wellness and medical-based strength & re-conditioning training grows.

how do you know our RELIEVe & restore ‘entry point’ is the right starting point for you?

  • Experiencing a sudden pain that has made general movement difficult? Or muscle pain not allowing you to train properly?

  • Are you struggling with some recurring pain and want to fix the underlying issue?

  • Do you want an integrated (not just multidisciplinary) approach to how you care for your aches and pains?

  • Or just want some time and help to physically relax from your muscles and stress?

The goals of these consultations are exactly what the name suggests - to provide pain relief and to restore normal movement and function. We use a selection of hands-on treatments that include soft tissue massage, stretching, dry needling, acupuncture, and other Physiotherapy & Chiropractic techniques to achieve these two goals. These consultations will also provide you with a personalised care plan and we will identify the true/underlying cause of your pain (not just to treat your symptoms), to help you set up a results-driven treatment plan that is active and involves self-management and self-care education.

Your sessions will resemble more physical training, with the focus on muscle strength and stability development.

elevate (level II)

how do you know our ELEVATe ‘entry point’ is the right starting point for you?

  • Planning to take your recovery & performance to the next level?

  • Tired of putting time and energy into your own personal training and you still are having to deal with some pain and/or discomfort?

  • Or simply want to work with a team who can help you with your physical fitness and body composition goals while also making sure you’re optimising your health and wellbeing (because they are not the same thing!).

We focus on specific coaching, movement education, and strength & conditioning training to take your current performance to another level. We work with you on more than just preventing the risk of injury, but to help you start a life where your needs for a less medical model approach to your own health begins, and simultaneously help you kickstart those fitness goals you’re also after (like healthy weight loss and muscle building). Our approach will also keep you out of clinics and spending time money on medical expenses in the long run.

The physical part of the programmes will be coordinated by a physiotherapist, and your consults will resemble more physical strength & re-conditioning training, with the focus on muscle strength and stability development.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR PHYSIOTHERAPY, CHIROPRACTIC AND OTHER CONSULTS/SESSIONS?

We as a company are different in the sense that it is not our professional titles (physiotherapist, chiropractor, massage therapist) that defines us or our style of treatment. Our titles differentiate us to the world, but when you visit us and get the chance to be co-treated by our team, you will find that we work well as a team because we all have a proactive care approach to our treatment, we all have slightly different skills and expertise, but our goal remains the same; to help you achieve your goals and reason why you came to us in the first place.

HOW DO I KNOW WHO IS THE BEST PERSON TO SEE FOR WHAT I NEED?

The majority of our clients come through via direct referrals from past/existing clients and our health, medical and fitness network. When they do, they are commonly recommended to see a particular individual on our team. This may be different for you if you were not given a name to ask for, but don’t worry, you can speak to Sheffield, our Head of Operations, who can help refer you to the best person for your needs, or she can help arrange for you to speak to one of our clinical team as we do offer 10-minute complimentary assessment calls.

DO I NEED TO SEE A GENERAL PRACTITIONER (GP) OR SPECIALIST FIRST BEFORE COMING IN?

Put simply, No (unless your medical insurance requires you to for claiming purposes only). With regards to who is best to see first, we do recommend you see our physiotherapists and/or chiropractors as we are considered ‘first line’ providers when it comes to musculoskeletal and neuromuscular injuries and conditions. Especially when it comes to acute injuries (e.g. ankle sprains, suspected muscle tears, or joint pain), you are better off contacting us for some advice to reduce the initial stress and worry. It also gives us an opportunity to provide you with some professional advice without needing to necessarily see us in person.

IS PHYSIOTHERAPY/chiropractic COVERED UNDER HEALTH INSURANCE in hong kong?

This depends on the type of medical/health insurance you have as different policies offer varying levels of coverage. Some insurance providers require you to visit a GP first so that your consults can be covered by your insurance, while others do not. Please check with your insurance provider before coming in. If you are in need of a GP (whether more family-focused or sports-specialised), please ask us for a recommendation.

DO YOU ONLY TREAT SPORTY AND ATHLETIC PEOPLE?

No. Although our reputation is strong within the sporting community in Hong Kong, our team of physiotherapists are well educated and trained in specialised areas within the physiotherapy profession that include but not limited to; chronic musculoskeletal (osteoarthritis, osteoporosis), neurological (Parkinson’s disease, MS, post stroke recovery), cardiovascular (post heart attack recovery, post-operative recovery), metabolic (diabetes), rheumatology (rheumatoid arthritis), or women’s health (pregnancy-related health) conditions.

HOW MANY SESSIONS/CONSULTS WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO BE BETTER?

It is hard to say as it is heavily dependent on the individual case. We do our best to ensure we get you out of pain as soon as possible, but we consider this the easy part. Keeping you out of pain is a better goal for us to work on together, especially if you’re active and it’s a recurring issue. Rest assured, from the first consultation, we are working hard to expedite your recovery and get you back to doing what you love.

WHEN SHOULD I BE BOOKING A CONSULTATION?

If you are experiencing any musculoskeletal pain or injury, or you have long-term mobility and movement restrictions, then you will benefit from our Discovery Consult. Symptoms you may be experiencing might include pain (after an injury), a niggling issue that has been impacting the life you want to live, or a long-term diagnosed or undiagnosed condition that you want to overcome.
