FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long is the program?

Our Reconnect & Rebuild programme contains a minimum of 12 sessions designed to be completed within an 8-week timeframe. We recommend the following programme layout:

●      At least once weekly postpartum focused strength and conditioning sessions (45 minutes/session) (8 sessions)

●      Fortnightly pelvic health assessment sessions (60 minutes/session) (4 sessions)

Please note that the schedule outlined above is recommended if you will be able to commit to completing your home programme at least 3 times outside of your scheduled sessions in the clinic. We understand that this can be challenging for some! As such, if this is not feasible for you or you would like some extra guidance, please feel free to add on additional strength and conditioning sessions as needed. It is also possible to add on additional pelvic health assessment sessions as needed. Additional sessions are available at preferred rates to those who have purchased the programme.

What does a Reconnect & Rebuild Strength & Conditioning session entail?

Each Reconnect & Rebuild strength and conditioning session lasts 45 minutes in duration. Ideally, these sessions are spent in our gym space and are active periods for your mind and body. The focus of these sessions will be on optimising your strength and function starting from the deep core and progressing outwards. The programme will be tailored to progress you towards your unique movement & lifestyle goals.

We recommend completing at least one of these sessions weekly to optimise your form and gain confidence with the movements you will be carrying out at home. After each session, you will be provided with an updated home programme to be completed outside of your time in the clinic.

What does a Reconnect & Rebuild Pelvic Health session entail?

Each Reconnect & Rebuild pelvic health session is 60 minutes in length and provides you and your physiotherapist with the opportunity to thoroughly examine your baseline function and monitor your progress along the way.

These sessions include a holistic full-body and pelvic health assessment, with the option for an internal component. Internal assessments allow for direct assessment of the pelvic floor musculature vaginally and/or rectally and provide valuable information on your current pelvic health status. Internal assessments also help your therapist to monitor & address common conditions which can occur in the post-partum period such as pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence. Progressive return to exercise considering your current movement strategies, exercise form & pelvic health status can help prevent the development or exacerbation of conditions such as those mentioned above.

  1. Sleep, Rest and Recovery

  2. Nutrition Knowledge

  3. Stress management (Mindfulness and Grounding exercises)

  4. Movement and Exercise

  5. Connection, Community, Support

  6. Motherhood and Self balance (not sure if there's a better way of putting it)

DO I NEED TO SEE A GENERAL PRACTITIONER (GP) OR SPECIALIST FIRST BEFORE COMING IN?

Put simply, No (unless your medical insurance requires you to for claiming purposes only). With regards to who is best to see first, we do recommend you see our physiotherapists as we are considered ‘first line’ providers when it comes to musculoskeletal and neuromuscular injuries and conditions. Especially when it comes to acute injuries (e.g. ankle sprains, suspected muscle tears, or joint pain), you are better off contacting us for some advice to reduce the initial stress and worry. It also gives us an opportunity to provide you with some professional advice without needing to necessarily see us in person.

IS PHYSIOTHERAPY COVERED UNDER HEALTH INSURANCE in hong kong?

This depends on the type of medical/health insurance you have as different policies offer varying levels of coverage. Some insurance providers require you to visit a GP first so that your physiotherapy sessions can be covered by your insurance, while others do not. Please check with your insurance provider before coming in. If you are in need of a GP (whether more family-focused or sports-specialised), please ask us for a recommendation.
