In June, Founder Kieran and colleague Camille were interviewed by the Old Kellettonians Community to find out more about what we are passionate about, how Momentum came to be and what our vision is for our community. Both Kieran and Camille are ex-students of Kellett School, a longstanding British education provider in Hong Kong. In April, The Momentum Team sponsored and attended the 2019 Hong Kong CrossFit Charity Team Competition, a fantastic event hosted by Nick Worley and CrossFit Asphodel to raise money to support Catherine’s Puppies, a rescue animal project that was decimated by Typhoon Mangkhut last year. The CrossFit community came together and raised a staggering HK$110,000 that will help go towards the rent, medical costs and other expenses needed to care for our four-legged friends. Check out this SCMP article on this great event (https://www.scmp.com/sport/outdoor/crossfit-strongman/article/3006229/dog-shelter-dismantled-typhoon-mangkhut-gets-boost?fbclid=IwAR3RgzZoPSiDidPneMfKNwzJnwY1vuGmSbwJF2WX0eqVqdDQMFgldXnaVss).

Momentum’s Head of Physical Medicine Kevin Choy is one of only two certified Kinstretch Instructors in Hong Kong, and is the only certified Kinstretch Instructor in his hometown, Manila, Philippines. Kevin was excited to pioneer the first ever Kinstretch class in Manila last December, 2018. In January 2019, he collaborated with Focus Athletics Medical, a high quality performance training, sports medicine and wellness facility based in Metro Manila. In bringing Kinstretch to the Philippine community, Kevin has hoped to give back and share what he has learned to the country he grew up in. He aims to spread awareness on functional mobility and proactive joint health. Kevin shares, “My focus is to promote joint health and allow each participant to practice self care. By taking my classes, they are learning to equip themselves with the tools to prevent joint degeneration and mitigate injury.” To experience one of Kev’s classes yourself, click here and scroll to the bottom to book today.
The launch of Talking Mental (@talkingmental), a new home-grown podcast hosted by Aaron Stadlin-Robbie at The Hive Sheung Wan saw our amazing community turn out to listen to him open up in a direct, unfiltered and honest way about his ongoing personal struggles with panic attacks and anxiety. Founder, Kieran Rogers (@kieranthephysio) alongside other keynote panel members were in attendance to offer a professional insight into how mental health is becoming a more important topic in our society, and how together we can create a more open, supportive future for each other.
